Dad and Tegan around town

We've been out and about Taichung this week showing dad and Diane around. Tegan has been a trooper through it all. Here are Jeremiah and Tegan at the Rainbow Village and a hot pot restaurant:

Development

When Tegan was little she slept in this rocker

A few weeks ago she was mastering batting at a toy that hung down off it

Last week she mastered kicking them with her feet.  This is also the time we started buckling her in because she can push herself off with her feet now.

She's been trying this week to get the owl to her mouth and yesterday succeeded!

Baby school

As an elementary counselor I would position myself outside the kindergarten room on the first day of school to help out with the criers and those who had a hard time letting go - more often than not it wasn't the kiddo but the parents.  Tears would fall, they would linger unable to say goodbye and generally make it harder on the kid (and teacher!).  Each time I walked a parent out I told myself that I wouldn't be a clinger when I became a mom.

Fast forward a few years to yesterday when I had to drop Tegan off at "baby school" (basically daycare, they like the start school early here) for the first time.  I took her in and was greeted at the door by 3 women - her teacher, the owner and a coordinator.  After giving them her info the principal turned to me and said, "she's okay now, we will take it from here".  I got the hint - go now before its harder for everybody - because I've used those same words to other parents.  So I kissed Tegan goodbye and walked bravely to the car.  I saved my tears for the drive to school.  Now I understand what Jeremiah's felt since she was only a few days old and he had to go back to work!
This week she's mastered bringing her hands together and playing with them,
and of course trying to get both in her mouth at the same time!

Check-up

23 inches and 13 pounds.  Go Tegan!

2 months

I'm late with this post because of our travels, but Tegan turned 2 months on December 30.  Tomorrow she goes in for her 2 month check-up.

Likes:
Daddy eating her toes
Sucking on her hand
Batting at hanging toys
Looking around, especially likes the curtains and the back of our iphones (learned while skyping)
Walks outside
Owl toys named Big Owl, Lil Owl, and Green Owl
Laying on our legs
Being worn in moby and baby bjorn
Crinkling sounds

Dislikes:
Getting too tired
Laying on tummy
When the person holding her sits down
Napping by herself (being held is so much better!)

New clothes

My cousin Leslie, and soon-to-be husband Ryan, brought Tegan some clothes from Laos where they live. When picking out the skirt she had to explain it was for a falang - foreign - baby, not a Lao baby, so she ended up with a 6 month skirt that fits 2 month old Tegan perfectly!

Nap time

Tegan really loves to snuggle for nap times and won't really sleep much on her own. When she does though the positions she sleeps in are so cute. Here is one of her favorites, the hand behind the head:

Thailand

We're in Bangkok! Tegan handled the flight like a champ. Here we are at the Grand Palace... she fell asleep but made sure to wake up to see the huge laying Buddha.
More pictures when we get back home.
